Here at Calapooia Brewing Company, we send November off with a musical fanfare to remember!

Two superstar veterans of the humble Calapooia stage return this weekend:

On Friday the 29th, local blues diva Vicki Stevens teams up with Portland blues guitar legend Sonny Hess to form The Stevens Hess Band. Those of you in the know will remember Vicki as a star that really lights up a room with the power of her presence and will whip your spine with her puissant vocal stylings. Sonny Hess brings the licks to match Stevens’ vocals and it is a show that will certainly NOT dissapoint. The show starts at 9 pm and there is NO cover!

Following that, on Saturday the 30th, don’t miss Oregon’s own, Norman. If one were to imagine the soundtrack of the Oregon experience, the music of Norman would  be a strong contender. Pairing melancholy turns of phrase with sunny guitar riffs and the occasional intercession of synthesizers, Norman seems to encapsulate the Oregonian spirit. With our feet planted in the soil of the earth and our eyes wandering about the starscape (when the clouds allow), we Oregonians straddle a present fully alive with old sensibilities and future potentials. Norman strides that middle space and they seem poised to continue striding onto the international stage. Norman is truly a product of a modern Portland that is itself enjoying  mainstream notoriety.

Norman has been playing the Calapooia stage for 5 years now and for this band that makes it’s base the micro-brew capital of the world, Calapooia is the brewing company front man Eric Nordby calls home. That has led to the brilliant collaboration between Eric and our brewing team to make a beer to fit the album, Eventyr, which had just come ready for release. It is a wonderful partnership that brings good music and good beer together for you to hear and to taste.

So come on down to Calapooia Brewing this Saturday and hear and taste for yourself. Showtime is 9pm and there is no cover.

Cheers!
