A Few Cloud 9 Movie Night Pictures

I decided to experiment a bit without flash on the camera considering it was movie night and all. A flash is sure to make distract patrons from the movie I figured! Results are a bit mixed, but I’ll do better next time.

Many thanks to Cloud 9 for hosting us for movie night! As you can see in the pictures, it’s a beautiful spot and their menu is fantastic. Looking forward to the next movie night for sure!

And we don’t know who these folks are, but they appear to be mimicking the movie by downing some Calapooia Pilsner by the pitcher:

Over 150 riders made the trip, with their final destination at our brewery and pub. Here are a couple of pictures and you can see more pictures and video on the Albany Corvallis Bike Path web site.

Thanks to everyone who attended to raise awareness for this great cause, and cheers to Nick for continuing to be an advocate for green solutions!

Woodstock Pizza LogoBack at Mark and Laura’s old stomping grounds, Calapooia Brewing is being hosted atSuds and Suds in Corvallis for Brewer’s Night, inside Woodstocks Pizza. While all our events are noteworthy, the promo at ‘Suds is not to be missed and is usually a packed house for the occasion.

For those that don’t know, Mark, Laura, and myself are all Woodstocks/Suds Alumni and have many fond memories of our time working there during college. And our favorite Suds bartender and close friend, Julie, will be on the bar the same night as our promo. It’s always a special treat to be able to come back to a place where we have so much fun!

We’ll be bringing a selection of fan favorite brews, and as usual there will be a raffle with lots of ‘Pooia swag to give away as well. So come join us this Thursday evening for some great Pizza, good friends, and the best microbrews in the Willamette Valley from Calapooia Brewing!

bike-rideOur Facilities Manager and Environmental Advocate, Nick Hawley, is heading up the 2nd Corvallis to Albany Bike Ride to promote the installation of a multi-use path between our two cities. Here are the details from Nick:

2nd. Corvallis-Albany Bike Ride
Sunday, May 3

Please come along on a 10 mile ride from town-to-town along Hwy.20 to show your support for the proposed multi-use path from Albany to Corvallis.

We will meet at the fountain in Corvallis Riverfront Park at 11.30 a.m and depart for our destination, the Calapooia Brewing Company in Albany at high noon.

All levels of riders are welcome.

Please check out the Albany Corvallis Bike Path website and RSVP in the comments if you plan to attend.

Funding for the trail is being decided in the Albany City Council and a public show of support in favor of alternative transportation could sway decision makers towards raising the priority of the project.

If you cannot make it for the ride then please email the Albany City Councilors. Their addresses can be found at http://www.cityofalbany.net/council/index-2009.php

And here is an excerpt from a recent article in the Gazette Times about the upcoming ride:

[...] Roger Irvin, public works director for Benton County, said recently the county had obtained funds from the Oregon Department of Transportation to design the first part, a segment within Corvallis.

Eventually, according to the proposal, the path would parallel the Toledo Branch rail line. It would allow for bike travel away from Highway 20, where motor traffic is sometimes heavy and always fast, making cyclists fear for their safety.

[...]

ODOT, however, has approved $460,000 toward the first segment, from Circle Boulevard to Manchester Street in Corvallis, under its transportation enhancement program.

The path also has been recommended as the top priority for another $581,000 under the same program, with a decision by the Oregon Transportation Commission due this spring, according to the ODOT website.

[...]

Hawley said that while funding for the project is being decided, “a public show of support in favor of alternative transportation could sway decision-makers towards raising the priority of the project.”

Calapooia Brewing is proud to be a supporter of this great cause and applaud Nick for continuing to keep this conversation on the table! Feel free to email Nick directly for more information, or leave a comment below and show your support!
