This Friday, Saturday, and Sunday we’ll be serving up our delicious microbrews at the Willamette River Festival in Albany, Oregon. The forecast is showing that our record high heat earlier this week will give way to a weekend of low 90′s and sunshine. Perfect for a weekend on the river at Monteith Park!
Activities include a Rock Band 2 competition, a KCBS BBQ competition, a pirate exhibition, the Bi-Mart monster truck, and music all weekend long with country singer Amy Clawson on Saturday.
Come out and enjoy festival, and stop by the beer garden for a refreshing microbrew beer from Calapooia Brewing!
Here’s a little sneak peak at what’s coming for July:
Friday the 10th @ 9pm, Arcweld with The Wobblies and Donnacepa(donna-seepa). Anytime Arcweld plays it’s an event! The Wobblies and Donnacepa are sure to drive us into those raucous rhythms for which this classic Corvallis band is famous! Check out more on our music and events page.
Calapooia Brewing presents It’s Rally Time with the Corvallis Knights baseball team on Tuesday, July 21st. The exact details aren’t filled in completely yet, but here is what I do know: We’re not just presenting the game, we’re having a party at our brew pub before and after the game. And a chartered bus will make two trips from and two trips back before and after the game — and there will be a keg on the bus! Stay tuned for ticket information soon!
Brews, Blues and BBQ combines the regular Blues Jam with Smokin B’s BBQ every Sunday throughout the summer! We’ve got baby back ribs, pulled pork, beef brisket, and all the sides and trimmings. Check out the Smokin B’s Facebook page!
Guess who’s doing the beer garden at Riverfest again this year July 30, 31 and August 1st? We are of course, and I hear the garden has moved to a better spot for viewing the stage this year!
I confess: I’ve taken more shots this month than I’ve had time to update the site! But before much more time passes I wanted to share pictures I’ve taken for Calapooia Brewing in the past couple of weeks.
Mark took me on a tour of the brewery highlighting the newly installed brew equipment. As you can tell, he’s passionate about his craft!
Here’s the new rig that will be able to transport more precious ‘Pooya nectar to your local watering hole
And here’s a couple quick pics from the Oregon Garden Brewfest last weekend
First picture is of Mark, Paul, and I. Next picture is a friend of ours, Alicia, who wanted to be pouring for us but pulled the Roots assignment instead. And finally that wonderful sausage!
Join us this weekend for the 5th annual Oregon Garden Brewfest in Silverton, Oregon. We had a great time last year and we’re eagerly looking ahead to this Friday to repeat. I can already smell those delicious sausages just thinking about this event!
This Oregon craft brewfest will feature many local beer brewers and will offer the chance to sample or enjoy a full glass of a wide variety of specialty beers. There will be live music to dance to and great food. The home brew competition is back this year.
This event is always standout to me because it usually marks the first weekend of good weather in the valley. We’ve had some outstanding weather already this week, let’s hope it continues through Saturday!
Update 4.24.09
This really is one of our favorite events. Check out this quote from yesterday’s Statesman Journal:
[...]
It’s the setting that makes the festival one of Laura Bryngelson’s preferred beer festivals.
“It’s actually one of our favorite ones, maybe only a little bit because last year, we won the People’s Choice award,” said the owner and president of Calapooia Brewing Company, which is based in Albany. “My husband and I are both very into gardening — at least before we bought the brewery — so we love to go there. It’s like all of the best things in Oregon, combined into one place. You can sample all the best Oregon beers, then take a walk around.”
And as a brewer, she said, she loves interacting with the festival-goers, getting feedback on her beer and maybe a little taste of the friendly competition.
“You’ll hear someone talk about, ‘Oh, did you go over to this booth? They have this weird chili beer,’ and we’ll turn around and say, ‘Oh, you like our chili beer?’” she said.
And, she said, the festival is family-friendly; those younger than 21 can enjoy the sights and sounds, if not the beer, from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Last year, she said, “my son was 4 months old, and we were able to take him and my daughter … you’d never think you could get so many people getting together and drinking beer, but it’s so relaxed. It’s a very chill environment.”
*** Note: The actual date for this event is the 23rd, not this this Thursday! Sorry for the confusion! ***
Back at Mark and Laura’s old stomping grounds, Calapooia Brewing is being hosted atSuds and Suds in Corvallis for Brewer’s Night, inside Woodstocks Pizza. While all our events are noteworthy, the promo at ‘Suds is not to be missed and is usually a packed house for the occasion.
For those that don’t know, Mark, Laura, and myself are all Woodstocks/Suds Alumni and have many fond memories of our time working there during college. And our favorite Suds bartender and close friend, Julie, will be on the bar the same night as our promo. It’s always a special treat to be able to come back to a place where we have so much fun!
We’ll be bringing a selection of fan favorite brews, and as usual there will be a raffle with lots of ‘Pooia swag to give away as well. So come join us this Thursday evening for some great Pizza, good friends, and the best microbrews in the Willamette Valley from Calapooia Brewing!
The ‘Pooia Brew Crew would like to thank the Crowbar in Corvallis, and everyone who came out, for an absolutely great time last night! It was really cool to meet everyone and the entire bar was filled with a fun Calapooia Brewing buzz. Lots of folks grabbed swag as winners from the raffle, and we were treated to some live music from Billy Sunrise, who will also be playing at our pub on March 28th.
We’d like to thank our host, Cloud, for having us to the Downward Dog for our promo. Everyone had a great time and guests sampled 3 different taps from Calapooia Brewing. Mark also handed out numerous t-shirts to those sampling our brews during the raffle.
We’ll be back in Corvallis in two weeks for our latest promo at the Crowbar. See you then and enjoy pictures from our event at the Downward Dog:
We wanted to take a moment and say a big thank you to everyone for attending another fantastic Crabfest at Calapooia Brewing! Calapooia Brewing really values hosting this special event, and we were so happy to see so how many people came out to support a good cause, all while having a great time and seeing all that we have to offer. We have just released our latest batch of Pilsner, which was a great pairing with the seafood!
Many thanks to the Rotary and all their volunteers who helped keep this event running smoothly. And a special thanks to our crew: Steve, Kary, Summer, Deena, Matt, and Zach — Not to mention Paul, our brewpub manager, for coordinating one of our biggest events of the year.
And one last shout out to our Facilities Manager and Environmental Advocate, Nick Hawley. Nick encouraged the Rotary Club and Calapooia Brewing to think of ways we could be mindful of our environment when hosting an event like this. The Rotary club really came through with corn based plates, flatware, and cups, which allowed for composting of nearly all of the garbage! Calapooia Brewing is proud to be innovator in green recycling and we thank Nick for his efforts!
We had a great time this year and hope next year’s event is even bigger as we expand our warehouse seating. Below are a few pictures I snapped while enjoying some crab last weekend. If you have pictures you would like to share, please email me and I’ll get your pictures on our website!
And if you have an event you need to host for 20 people, or 350, we hope you’ll consider your next event at Calapooia Brewing!
